What is Auto Detailing?

Auto Detail means a thorough cleaning of a vehicle using specialized tools and products. It involves the process of restoring, cleaning, conditioning the vehicles interior & exterior. The aim is to bring the vehicle to a new beginning of state when you took it out from the dealer.

Why is it important to keep my vehicles exterior and interior maintained?

It is important to keep your vehicles paint in great condition for the following reasons are;

  •  If you're looking to have the vehicle in your possession for a lifetime you may want to take action and preserve its lifetime by getting it detailed so it may still be looking as the day you took it out of the dealer.

  • If you're looking to sell the vehicle, take the opportunity to get the vehicle detailed, gives the potential new owner a reason to buy it for the condition of the vehicle.

  • Thinking of passing down you're vehicle to your son or daughter? Take the time to get it detailed once every four months or six months. To make sure the paint and clear coat is well protected and interior as well for your young teen to be stunning on a "brand new car"

How often should I get my vehicle detailed?

The response to this question is...how often to you need to go to the doctor? Not very often, right? We go to the doctor when we aren't feeling well or when you need to get a physical check up. Typically a detail is to be done once every four to approximately eight months. Keep in mind, if you take your vehicle off-road or live near the ocean you may want to ask your detailer how often should you be getting a detail or a package they might offer for these types of driving conditions. O'side Auto Detail offers packages for these types of conditions. Make sure to start your appointment by contacting through our website or call us.

What is a Clay Bar?

A "Clay bar," removes anything that is protruding the surface of your vehicles paint (Over-spray, industrial fallout, airborne pollutants, acidic rain deposits embedded into the paint). This technique is safe on all paint surfaces. Over the years if your vehicle isn't clay, the contaminants described above will penetrate the clear coat to attack the paint, which will then oxidize and crack your paints clear coat. This method is an essential first step in order to protect your paint and clear coat

What is Carnuba Wax? What is the purpose of a carnuba wax?

With O'side Auto Detail we offer 3 different types of wax protection for your vehicle (paste wax, liquid wax, hybrid wax). Our most popular is "Carnuba wax" this type of wax gives protection of your vehicle for up to 3-6 month of protection, however; depending on the areas your vehicle is driven the wax may last from 1-3 months. The wax gives a high brilliant gloss shine to any color of vehicle. The "Carnuba Wax" is a natural Brazilian carnuba wax.  For example, an Off-Road vehicle is best waxed once every 1 month or 2 months due to the conditions of driving.

What is (Polymer) Sealant? What is the purpose of a sealant?

A polymer sealant is a wax primarily consisting of man-made materials, as opposed to the more natural carnauba wax. This polymer sealant wax is a higher protection for your vehicle. Sealants can protect your car for a year while doing regular maintenance washes. It will protect your paint and give a glossy paint finish. When applied after the process of carnuba wax both creating a high brilliant finish and better protection. It may also be used to remove very light, fine swirls marks and repel water-spots and contaminants of your vehicle.

What is a Glaze? What is the purpose of a glaze wax?

A Glaze wax is a shine enhancement that is applied before the wax and sealant. Is it important to apply? Not necessarily. When a vehicle is well clay, the clay may leave a glossy finish, the next step would be going with a sealant or a wax of your kind. The glazes are made with oils and wetting agents that will give a shine to the vehicle. Are glazes a protection to your paint? No, unfortunately they are not, only to enhance the vehicles paint delivering a shine enhancement.
